Denise Coley's leadership role as director of global supplier diversity business development at Cisco Systems extends beyond her responsibilities at the company. She is also a board member of the National Minority Supplier Development Council, the Conference Board for Supplier Diversity and the Minority Supplier Development UK Council. In April 2008, her department launched the Executive Mentor Protégé Program, where Cisco executive vice presidents mentor protégés by offering advice, counseling, business opportunities and development, technology and telecommunications technology training and education. Business partnering is encouraged, advocated and adopted through this program across all business functions.

Coley's leadership role at Cisco is at the executive level and she interfaces directly with executive management to implement supplier diversity initiatives on a global scale. In 2008, Cisco participated in business missions to UK and Australia with NMSDC. Global supplier diversity business development is one step directly below Cisco Chairman and CEO John Chambers.
