Annette Ficucello serves as the assistant vice president of supplier diversity at New York Life, acting as a liaison between the diverse supplier community and the company. She initiated the formal supplier diversity program at the company by successfully demonstrating the business case for supplier diversity and obtaining the commitment of senior management in order to take the program to the next level.

In 2010, Ficucello helped to expand the program to include certified LGBT suppliers. The company continues to increase the number of suppliers and the commodities and services they provide. Ficucello has spurred many successes in both traditional and non-traditional spend in a wide range of products and services from promotional items to electricity.

New York Life’s experience with diverse businesses is that they add value by providing a wider range of viewpoints that reflect its diverse employees and customer base, with eight percent of sourceable spend with diverse suppliers last year.
