Liberty Power Announces New Electricity Contract with Allentown

Liberty Power, the only minority-owned retail electric provider with a national presence, has signed a 24-month contract with Allentown, Pa. to supply an estimated 7,200 megawatt-hours of power annually to the city.

Beginning January 1, when rate caps in the PPL utility territory are lifted, Liberty will supply electricity to power certain government facilities, including City Hall, police headquarters, the firehouses & fire academy, the city’s parks and other facilities. The contract was awarded through a competitive bid process facilitated by CX Energy MarketPlace.

Originally founded to serve small and medium-sized businesses, Liberty Power quickly expanded and diversified its base of customers.

“We are very pleased with our recent agreement with Liberty Power. Liberty Power was able to provide us with a low-cost, fixed-price contract, giving us the budget certainty we need, as well as cost-savings versus default supply rates,” said Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski.
